Calculating Utility of the RX8

I haven’t seen the 8 in 3 months… ๅŽŸ่ฅฟใ•ใ‚“ใ€ใฒใƒƒใ•ใ—ใถใ‚Šใ€‚

And instead of studying, doing research or finishing up the USDCNH/USDCNY guide, here’s something I threw together in 20 minutes. You can calculate utility to cost change with this! Like in micro!

The current potential ratio of dUtilitiy/dCost is at 2.9, so 2.9 points of zoom-zoom for every dollar. That comparison is absolutely futile as everyone knows a zoom-zoom (especially rotary generated) is an unimaginable amount of joy. No one has done experiments to find out that value. Not… even… scientists. They couldn’t be separated from the steering wheel (from RX7s, RX8s or miatas…)

Maybe that’s why they stopped producing it – to tune it down (or make it more efficient) to keep happiness under wraps. Can’t have too much of everything, especially that adrenaline injecting machine.

So with today’s insurance payment for another six months, here’s what the forecasted utility and cost looks like. Costs are flattening out, since I will have to replace the tires since there’s too much traction from being completely worn, and especially the battery, which is bound to be dead after 3 months of inactivity.

Looks good, eh? Utility continuing to increase after I fix it up again. Doesn’t seem like anything will be wrong with that. Heck, looking at the pics is +5 utility.

(Driving = 50; going around corner >10mph over = 20; powersliding in wet condition = 25, driving hills in night condition = 15))

But if we turn it up to 11, here’s what it’ll look like. This is what real economists do right? Print money if anything goes wrong?

Attaboy, projected utility for up to 2 weeks later will be 140k. That’s right. It’s growing faster than the Fed’s and ECB’s balance sheet combined. Plus with costs at a standstill, utility is INFINITEEEE.

So I’m quite excited. Looking forward to fixing it up and bringing it back this weekend for something to share with next week.

And here are the charts if you’re interested. RX8 This should not be taken as trading guidance since I am currently failing badly at it haaaaaaa

k, back to reading… :/

To commemorate the start of series 18 of everyone’s favorite and everyone else’s most despised motoring magazine, I have once again planned to go out at least 300 miles of my way and buy a car. Why? For the a-do-ben-chu-aa

So what’s next? Other than the normal choice of a WRX hatch, there is this.

Complete with livery, badges and of course RHD. There’s a massive process and mountain of paperwork I’m not even prepared to google right now, so this project is something for the distant future.

But if I ever get time to do this, (starting this summer when I’ll be looking at the HK classifieds), I’ll certainly post it here.

For those of you know, license plates in Hong Kong are made by garages to the order of owners – no registration, etc needed and can be done in around 20 minutes.

Since I never found a post about this on Google, here’s this post search engine optimized on how to get license plates made in both Hong Kong styles and British styles.

The address for the cheapest is Lee Yuen Battery and Tire, 118 C1 Jaffe Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong where all the other dealers are. Was HKD160 each set.

Two sets – one for my friend’s BMW 540 (forgot his Cali plate number) and one for the RX8

Was smiling all the way from about the time I got the plates to just outside Lo Wu on the Shenzhen side. Can’t wait to mount them!

Also… haven’t seen any RX8s in Hong Kong or China yet…

So this time, like the last, it will be in California since I actually want to meet my friends and their families this Thanksgiving instead of driving halfway across the country, coming home smelling like god knows what and possibly killing the rotors.

Destination is Atacasdero, and here is the new toy.

And probably with this, I’m going to close my trading account to fund it, and start again when the Miata gets sold.

And here it is, on the driveway. I love it so much!!!!! aaaahhhhhh

Following the successful last challenge (and sale for only 100 sterling lost) it’s time to once again embark on ANOTHER challenge. After all, how hard could it be?

This time to celebrate all that is Thanksgiving and American history, I shall travel to middle America, the heartland that is (I heard) very different from the Dixie and the West Coast – almost like a mix of them. I will have 5 days during Thanksgiving break to get this done. Otherwise, I won’t have a car until next year or so when we enter the new depression (at that time, which, I can buy another one… but we live in a fiat money society so the banks will always print more and thus sustain the price of almost everything, even technology after a sag in the natural depreciation/inflation curve….)

Enough ranting. Euro’s getting kicked in the head. ALLEZ MOTOR!
